Fixtures
We take part in a number of competitive
leagues which are organised by Notts ASA. The
age groups for the leagues vary, and often give
different swimmers a chance to compete. You’ll also
find
the age at dates differ for
different leagues. We also hold our own competitions.
Sports Centre League. This
league has 6 rounds and each round is swam against the
same teams but at the 6 home venues of each team in
turn .Age groups are 8/9 years, under 11,under 13,under
15 and Open.
Stage 1 Trophy Galas. One in
January and one in December .These are classed as Trophy
galas and do not form part of a league so the age groups
are 8,9,10 and 11 year olds.
Stage 2 League Galas. Three
galas in march , April and May .These galas are in a
league format so the age groups are 9,10,11,12,13,14
and Open.
Stage 3 League Galas.Three galas
in september and October . These galas are also in a
league format so the age groups are 10,11,12,13,14 and
Open.
Simeon Hansard Gala. This
is an annual inter club gala where we invite other teams
to swim at The Grove.
Notts Asa County Championships .
Swimmers have to reach a certain standard
and achieve qualyfying times to compete for the club
. Swam in February and march for age group swimmmers
(up to 14 year girls and 15 year boys) and in December
for the Youth swimmers (Over 13 year girls and o0ver
14 year boys)
Midland Asa Regional Championships.Swimmers
have to reach a higher standard than Counties to qualify
.
Newark Swimming Club competitions.
In addition we also hold two internal club
competitions each year, the Age Group championships
in April and the Club championships in October. All
members are encouraged to enter these events. As
well as being good fun, they also give swimmers the
chance to set ‘personal bests’ and to win medals and
trophies.
Modern Biathlon and Modern Triathlon.
Many of our swimmers compete in these competitions
arranged by the Modern Pentathlon Association of Great
Britain. These combine a run and swim, or run,
swim and pistol shoot. Regional qualifiers are
held locally giving a chance to qualify for a National
competition.
Open Meets . These events are
arranged by other clubs and are usefull for swimmers
to try for better times and also in some cases win trophies
.
