New Parent FAQs

New swimmers attend a trial session so coaches can assess the best squad for them. Request a trial through the website and we will contact you with available dates.

The trial is relaxed and friendly. A coach will watch your child swim a few lengths to understand their technique and confidence.

Basic kit includes a swimsuit or jammers, goggles, a swim hat and a drink bottle. Some squads require fins, a kickboard or a pull buoy.

Training frequency depends on the squad. Younger swimmers may train 1–2 times per week, while competitive squads train more often.

Yes, parents can usually watch from the viewing gallery unless the pool has specific restrictions.

Competition is encouraged but not compulsory. Many swimmers enjoy taking part in club galas and open meets once they feel confident.

Competitions are organised events where swimmers race against others of similar age. Parents receive entry information in advance.

There is a monthly squad fee and an annual Swim England membership fee. Competition entries may have additional costs.

Updates are sent through Swim Club Manager, email and occasionally social media. Please ensure your contact details are up to date.
