Former Newark Swimming Club Member, Marija Romanovskaja, will be competing in the 2024 European Junior Swimming Championship next week. 

Running from 2nd - 7th July in Vilnius, Lithuania, Marija will compete in the 50, 100 & 200 Freestyle, plus Team Relays.

About Marija

Marija joined Newark Swimming Club in February 2017 as a beginner. Under tutelage of former coaches Paul Trickett and John Palmer, Marija progressed to a level to compete in County and Regional Championships for Newark by 2018.

Many of Marija's Newark Swimming Club Records, remain unbroken.

In 2020, Marija succeeded in securing a place in the Lithuanian National Team and competed at the European Junior Swimming Championships in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Followed by the World Junior Swimming Championships 2023, where her team came 5th in the 4 x 100 Free relay.

Marija is due to study at North Carolina State University, USA in 2025 and train under Division One USA coaches. 

Despite her successes since being with Newark SC, Marija remembers her training sessions with Newark Swimming Club fondly and still considers herself part of Newark Team.
