I am the Newark swimming club Captain and I am a volunteer coach on a Thursday before my training session. I have been swimming for this club for about 10 years and have loved every second. My favourite stroke is front crawl however my best is butterfly. My main event is 50m butterfly.
My favourite aspects of the club are the amazing coaches who care about you both mentally and physically. I love all of the competitions that we do and I love to see all of the younger swimmers grow to love the same sport I did when I was younger.
Some of my best memories at this club would be during training sessions Adam has music on in the background and me and my friends sing along to the songs and dance along. I love to go watch everyone at competitions and cheer everyone on while they try their hardest in the pool. Finally at our latest awards ceremony I loved it when it was after all the awards were given out the DJ put on some classic disco songs and everyone who was there were dancing to the songs, a lot of good memories for both older and younger swimmers.
Other than swimming, I enjoy volunteering at rainbows and cubs, while studying for my GCSEs.

I’m in the County Performance Squad with Newark Swimming Club.
I really like the fact that Newark is such a sociable, friendly club. When we swim, we train properly, but we also have a really good time and I’ve made lots of friends here.
I volunteer as a Poolside Assistant before I swim, because I get to know the little swimmers and see them improve. I like the feeling of contributing to their ability to swim, and they make me laugh! I’m looking forward to seeing them compete in Galas when they are a bit older if they decide they want to.
My favourite stroke is Breaststroke. I’m learning loads of swimming techniques from the Coaches and getting faster each week! I’ve loved getting better at swimming and moving up the lanes.
I enjoy competing in the Galas, I get chance to speak to all the members of the club, and I love getting medals! I felt very honoured when I got the job of Vice Captain.
In my spare time I enjoy climbing. It's great for practicing stretching and using the muscles I need to swim! Also, I sing and have performed solo in front of large audiences before. I sometimes sing on the poolside to the music Adam puts on. In the pool, it's great to train with songs in the background and I hum and sing when I'm doing kick!

I am the Junior Captain at Newark Swimming Club. I have been swimming and competing since I was 7 years old. My favourite stroke is Freestyle although my best stroke is Backstroke. I particularly enjoy the 50m races, but I’m always keen to take part in all distances when competing.
One of the things I love the most about swimming club is attending the various Gala’s where I enjoy the team spirit. My favourite memory of Swim Club is my first Gala and I am very much looking forward to competing this year.
Outside of swimming I play football for both Lincoln City Academy & DP Academy and love all sports. I also love going on holiday with my family.
Amelie
I am in the Development Squad. My favourite strokes are fly and freestyle and I enjoy racing the 50m lengths in these strokes.
I love being part of Newark Swimming Club. I have made lots of friends on my journey through the club and really enjoy swimming with lots of different people at training. I love that I have the opportunity to compete and have really enjoyed both individual and team events over the past year. All of the coaches are really nice and supportive which makes the club a really friendly environment.
My favourite memory from NSC has to be my very first competitive gala. It was such a buzz having everyone cheer me on and I had lots of time to relax with my friends in between races.
Other than swimming, I enjoy netball, cricket and gymnastics. At home, I love to draw and play my saxophone as well as spending time with my friends and family.
Last year, I had to take a lot of time out of training for an operation. This year, I’m really looking forward to a full year of swimming! I am excited for all of the upcoming galas and events and I hope to achieve county qualifying times.
